Community Healing Garden
Our Healing Garden is open to anyone who needs a place to reflect on the loss of a loved one and to restore a sense of well-being.
Situated at the center of our Hospice Campus in Norwich, the Healing Garden opened in August 2014 and is available for visits during daylight hours, every day throughout the year, except in snowy weather.
The garden engages all the senses in a soothing yet rejuvenating natural sanctuary -- with aromatic herbs and traditionally therapeutic plants for the nose, flowers and succulent garden patterns for the eye, and a beautiful centerpiece waterfall fountain for the ear.
Benches under the dappled light of four pergolas look out on four distinctly different garden plots, including a Rose Garden, Herb Garden, Succulent Garden, and Berry Garden to attract birds.
For children, there is an all-weather “imbarimba” to make music. There is also a "Just for Kids" vegetable garden for children in our Expressive Arts program to learn and harvest from. To honor veterans, our garden features a commemorative rock with an inscribed plaque, positioned beside a flagpole.
The pathways in the garden are paved with engraved stones, memorializing loved ones. Pavers can still be purchased and engraved.
