– Hospice Southeastern Connecticut honored many of their 133 volunteers with an Appreciation Brunch held at the Officer’s Club at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London.

Volunteer Program Administrator, Lauren Watson said, “The compassion, dedication, and insight these volunteers bring to their work is remarkable. We feel blessed to have so many caring people who volunteer in the areas of patient care; pet therapy; massage, reiki, & healing touch therapies; equipment delivery & pick-up; bereavement support; administrative assistance, and fundraising & special events.”

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut is a community-based non-profit organization that provides quality care for people with life limiting illnesses and support for their loved ones before and after death. Volunteers are essential members of the HSECT Interdisciplinary Group. These volunteers have participated in an extensive training series covering the history, philosophy, and principles of hospice; the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and emotional aspects of death and dying; and grief and bereavement.
