Volunteers graduate at Hospice Southeastern Connecticut

Norwich, CT – April 6, 2011

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut announces the graduation of 12 new volunteers on March 29, 2011. The volunteers participated in up to 20 hours of training, learning about all aspects of hospice care and their role as volunteers for Hospice Southeastern Connecticut. Graduating volunteers are the following: Administrative Volunteers: Judy Irvin and Susan Wheeler; Patient Care Volunteers: Alice Armstrong, Joanne Davis, Christopher Mayhew, Marie Siragusa, and Roberta Vincent; Massage Therapists: Melissa Munger and Reiki Therapists: Laurie Gilman, Linda Higgins, Virginia Levasseur, and Maria Nott.

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut has over 130 active volunteers. They visit patients and provide respite for caregivers in their homes and in skilled nursing facilities, provide pet therapy and other holistic therapies as well as run errands, pick up medications, and deliver equipment. Volunteers also help in the Hospice Southeastern Connecticut office in Norwich and at various fundraising events throughout the year.
