Norwich, CT (March, 2011) – Hospice Southeastern Connecticut announces that they have recently collected donations, from staff and volunteers of household items. These donations were collected in an effort organized by Hospice Southeastern Connecticut’s own Debra Bennett, to help assist and create a better living environment for a patient in need of physical and emotional support. Debra Bennett, Social Worker for Hospice Southeastern Connecticut, said, “The outpouring of contributions is inspirational!” Among the items donated by Hospice Southeastern Connecticut was a sofa which sparked Bob’s Furniture to generously donate a gift card to also assist the patient.

Carol Mahier, Executive Director of Hospice Southeastern Connecticut, said, “We are so grateful to have such compassionate employees and volunteers in the community that are willing to give to support others in need. The agency has a strong history of giving back to the community. Staff and volunteers show their genuine commitment to southeastern Connecticut through generous donations like these.”

Hospice Southeastern Connecticut provides care in the home and often in skilled nursing facilities for those facing the end of their life, regardless of age, disease or inability to pay.  The organization also provides bereavement services for families in New London County free of charge, regardless of whether the death occurred under hospice care or not.
